Abstract
METHOD:3 patients with varied presentations and different levels of orbital involvement in post covid mucormycosis were selected.All three patients were given 6 injections of 1ml(3.5mg) Amphotericin B emulsion in the affected orbit.
Case 1: 28yr, male,Classical Frozen globe with Proptosis and complete ptosis,Normal vision
Case 2: 67yr,male,Frozen globe, Proptosis and complete ptosis and decrease Vision
Case 3: 35yr,female,No Clinical Eye Signs (Only Radiological Involvement)
RESULTS: Resolution of all signs and symptoms in 1st case, partial improvement in EOM, ptosis and proptosis in 2nd case, no deterioration of clinical signs in 3rd case.
CONCLUSION:Retrobulbar Amphotericin B can have a role in the management of mucormycosis patients with different levels of orbital involvement irrespective of clinical signs.It can be administered along with intravenous administration of Liposomal Amphotericin and sinonasal debridement for augmentation of response to treatment.
