Abstract
Paediatric ocular emergencies (POE) hold a glaring stand as they may start with mild symptom but without timely examination and intervention may lead to lifelong subpar vision and quality of life.AIM-To assess the pattern of POE in tertiary eye Care hospital.MATERIALS METHOD-Retrospective analysis of POE between 0-15years from Electronic Medical Report from July 2021 to July 2022 RESULT-2126 POE,1344 male&782female.47.50% were trauma with traumatic conjunctivitis being most common,24.50% infection with acute conjunctivitis,21.58% leucokoria with ROP,5.93% chemical injury with corneal abrasion 0.56% inflammation with panuveitis.CONCLUSION-POE majorly concerns trauma but other diagnosis such as infection & leukocoria were also crucial emergencies.Studies have been done to establish pattern of ocular trauma whereas studies to assess the pattern of all POE haven’t been done.Hence this study is done to assess profile of POE and emphasise on the importance to do further prospective studies.
