Abstract
Aim: To report the ocular manifestations of Crouzon syndrome.
Method: An 8-year-old girl was referred in view of progressive protrusion of her eyes since birth. She was a known case of hypothyroidism on medications. Detailed family history was taken, which revealed her mother also had similar features. On examination, she had a prominent forehead with ridging coronal suture, a beak-shaped nose, Mid-face hypoplasia with a high arched palate, and micrognathia. Visual acuity was 6/18 in both eyes. Ocular examination showed both eyes’ proptosis, mild ptosis with 3 mm lagophthalmos. The right eye showed 15-degree exotropia. Fluorescein stain was positive in both eyes. CT orbit showed bilateral proptosis and tortuous optic nerve.
Conclusion: Ocular manifestations of Crouzon syndrome should be addressed at the earliest to prevent associated visual loss due to amblyopia, exposure keratopathy, and optic atrophy.
