Abstract
Panophthalmitis is a visually devastating ocular inflammation within the eye that involves the
retina, choroid, and sclera and extends into the orbit. Endogenous panophthalmitis is a rare entity that occurs due to the spread of organisms hematogenous from a
focus of infection elsewhere in the body. We report a case of endogenous panophthalmitis
in a sixty-year-old diabetic male. The patient was a known case of diabetic kidney disease
with uncontrolled blood sugar level and high creatinine level. He had low hemoglobin
for which he was given a blood transfusion. He experienced Myocardial
Infarction post-transfusion.ECG and Trop T-test were confirmatory WBC count showed leucocytosis.Ocular examination was done after three days and
revealed panopthalmitis in both eyes. The cause of infection was deemed to be the
immunocompromised state and poor control of diabetes. The Patient was managed conservatively as the surgical
intervention was not considered possible because of systemic instability.
