Abstract
Primary neural tumors of the orbit are rare. They include meningiomas, optic nerve gliomas, neurofibromas, schwannomas, malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors, and granular cell tumors
we present a retrospective review of 4 cases of orbital tumours that were histopathologically confirmed as neural tumours .Presumptive diagnosis based on imaging in these 4 cases were case1.pleomorphic adenoma 2.Schwanomma 3.cavernous malformation 4.Schwanomma. Surgical excision of tumour was done using lateral and anterior orbitotomy and sent for HPE. Their HPE reports were case1.Schwanomma 2.Meningioma 3.Neurofibroma 4.Schwanomma
An incomplete preoperative diagnosis influence the surgical plan of management and clinical outcome. This case report highlights that neural tumours shows imaging characteristics that can be confused with other lesions such as vascular anamalies, lacrimal gland tumours, dermoid cyst etc. Thus neural tumours should always be considered as a radiological differential diagnosis
