Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Congenital lacrimal gland fistula is a rare occurrence. First described in 1817. Most cases are unilateral. On literature review it is found only 18 cases were reported.
SYNOPSIS: A 7 yr old child was presented to OPD with complaints of watering from an opening near lateral canthus of right eye since birth on&off.Examination revealed clear watery discharge everytime the patient blinked. His other ocular and systemic findings were normal.(MRI) Sinogram was done and revealed a focal fluid filled subcutaneous plane, probable communication to right lacrimal gland.Patient was evaluated for any other associated congenital anomalies.Diagnosis of lacrimal gland fistula was made.Preoperative workup done and patient was taken up for surgical excision of fistula under GA tissue sample sent for HPE and it was consistent with fistula.
CONCLUSION: All lacrimal fistula should be evaluated thoroughly for associated systemic anomalies and surgical excision is the treatment of choice.
