Abstract

Naevus of Ota or oculodermal melanocytosis is a congenital hamartoma of dermal melanocytes causing a bluish grey hyperpigmentation affecting the cutaneous distribution of trigeminal nerve. Rare oral involvement along with glaucomatous abnormality makes this case unique.

A 21 year old patient presented with gradual diminution of vision in right eye associated with pain and headache for 15 days. Examination showed bluish discoloration of sclera of right side along with discoloration of right side of face .Intra-orally a non homogenous blue grey diffuse hyperpigmentation over buccal mucosa was observed. intra ocular pressure on right side was 40 mm of Hg. Gonioscopy revealed synechial closure of angle i <90 in right eye. Fundus examination revealed CDR 0.4 in right eye and 0.2 in let eye.HFA revealed marked glaucomatous changes . The patient was started on anti glaucoma drugs and is being followed 3 monthly with good results.
