Abstract

A 8 year old male child came for routine eye examination, OD vision was 6/6; OS BCVA was 6/12 (-4.00DS). Slit lamp examination revealed normal anterior segment findings.Patient was dilated with Homatropine for routine cycloplegic refraction & fundus evaluation.Refractive status of eye showed anisometropic amblyopia.OD fundus was normal, OS fundus showed cup to disc ratio of 0.3, with healthy nasal rim but temporal cup thinning was noticed with a circular gray area of excavation on the temporal side suggestive of OPTIC DISC PIT.

OCT scans of disc & macula was done,OD disc & macula was normal ;OS Disc RNFL showed Significant thinning, with area of excavation on temporal side on the vertical tomogram which confirmed our diagnosis,macular/foveal contour was normal.

Congenital optic disc pits are malformations of the optic nerve and are a relatively rare finding, and its association with Anisometric amblyopia is even uncommon.Refractive correction,patching & routine follow up was advised.
