Abstract
Introduction: Cruciate & circular are two common capsulotomy shapes, size depends on maximum scotopic size of pupil. In our study we aim to find if size & shape of Nd:YAG has any effect over post laser visual acuity, IOP & the rate of complication with each technique.
Methods: All adult patients presenting to OPD from Feb 2022 to July 2022, with grade 4 pearl PCO were included. Post Nd:YAG laser, patients were followed up after 1month & their IOP, vision, size & shape of capsulotomy was checked.
Results: 100 eyes of 80 patients fulfilling inclusion criteria were divided into 4 groups (group A circular<3.5mm 25 eyes, group B circular>3.5mm 25 eyes, group C cruciate<3.5mm 25 eyes, group D cruciate>3.5mm 25 eyes). Group A required an overall less energy & shots (p<0.001). Significantly more patients complained of floaters in Group C & D. Conclusion: Circular capsulotomy <3.5mm is significantly better in terms of energy requirement and rate of complications with similar visual outcome
