Abstract
Aim-To compare the clinical efficacy of E/d Na hyaluronate(NaH), polyethylene glycol(PEG)& carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC) eye drops in the treatment of dry eye after phacoSx of cataract.Materials &Methods- 90 patients with dry eye after cataract phacoSx combined with IOL implantation were treated in tertiary care centre.Patients were divided into group A(NaH),group B(PEG) and group C(CMC).The clinical effect,tear film breakup time(TBUT),basic tear secretion,corneal staining score,dry eye symptom score & ocular irritation were seen.On 4th,10th,25th and 60th day after operation,TBUT,corneal staining score,schirmer test& dry eye symptom score in group A and group B were better than those in group C(P<.05).The incidence of dry eye in group A was significantly lower than that in group B(P<.05).Result-The effect of NaH E/ds shown greater benefit than others.Conclusion- NaH,PEG,CMC E/ds relieve the symptoms of dry eye after phacoSx in which NaH E/d shown best clinical profile followed by PEG.
