Abstract
Aim: To report a case of bilateral combined retinal vascular occlusion in a patient with chronic exposure to organophosphorous compounds.
History: 40 year old male who is a sprayer of pesticides in farms since 20 years presents with diminution of vision in both eyes.
Ocular examination: Vision hand movements positive in both eyes, dilated fundoscopic examination showed combined vascular occlusions in both eyes, fundus fluorescein angioigraphy confirmed the findings.Systemic evaluation was fairly normal.
Management :Oral steroids with multi- vitamin supplements given and on follow up Vision in both eyes improved to 1/60 and fundus findings remained same.
Conclusion: As in the case presented with no systemic illness or inflammatory condition the possible cause would be chronic exposure to Organophosphorous compounds Regular fundoscopic examination of subjects with exposure to organophosphorous compounds is need of the hour.
