Abstract
Aim-To compare the efficacy and tolerability of brinzolamide/timolol (BT) and dorzolamide/timolol (DT) fixed combinations on intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction Methods-86eyes of patients with primary open angle glaucoma or normal tension glaucoma were randomized to receive either BT or DT, 43eyes in BT group and 43eyes in DT group. IOPs were measured at baseline, 2weeks and 1, 2, and 3 months. The main outcome measures were the mean change in IOP from baseline at every visit. Secondary outcome measures included the tolerability of each fixed combination Results-Mean IOP reduction percentage from baseline was 26% and 44% at 2 weeks and 28% and 46% at 3 months with BT and DT respectively.Better tolerability without any adverse effects was seen in 83.72%(36) in DT group and in 32.55%(14) in BT group. Conclusion-Both fixed dose combination drops provide effective IOP reduction but patients were more likely to achieve lower target pressures with DT than with BT and with better tolerability
