Abstract

A 29 year old female presented with slowly enlarging, painless swelling of left upper eyelid since 10 years, not associated with trauma. No history of fever or discharge. Ocular examination showed well circumscribed swelling of 2.3*1.3*1.2 cm, firm in consistency, non-tender, freely mobile, with normal eyelid skin. It was not attached to overlying skin or underlying structures. The mass did not affect the movement of eyelid and did not cause ptosis. Xray orbit is WNL. The lesion was excised as en masse by giving incision at eyelid crease and was sent for histopathology. HPE of biopsy of whitish, homogenous and whorled specimen shows capsulated mass comprising of hypercellular and hypocellular areas of plump spindle cells with spindled cytoplasm and oval to elongated bland nuclei, nuclear palisading verocay bodies and scanty stroma: features of schwannoma.

Patient is completely free of symptoms post operatively with no recurrence on 3 months follow-up.
