Abstract
A hospital-based observational cross-sectional study was carried out on all referred and newly diagnosed patients coming to the out-patient department and retinoblastoma clinic after due written informed consent taken at a tertiary eye care center. Data collected was analyzed for demographic characteristics, socio-economic status, clinical features at time of presentation, grouping and staging of the disease and family history. The most common presenting symptom was leukocoria 31(81.57%) followed by squint 13(34.21%). Optic nerve involvement was seen on magnetic resonance imaging in 4(10.52%). There was no case of distant metastasis at the time of presentation. In the intraocular group 80% were in advanced group D or E at the time of presentation. 32(84%) were in stage 0 at the time of presentation.
Majority of patients in this study belonged to lower socio-economic strata and showed late diagnosis, and presented with advanced disease.
