Abstract
Aim:To assess the effectiveness of Subtenons Triamcinolone injection as the primary treatment in patients with VKH syndrome. Methods:In this study, we assessed the effectiveness of Subtenons Triamcinolone injection of (20mg) in 10 eyes of 5 patients with VKH syndrome. All the patients were prescribed topical difluprednate eyedrops 4 times a day for a month. The improvement in visual acuity, fundus, OCT findings was noted. All patients had a 1 year follow-up.Results:Subtenons Triamcinolone injection resulted in significant improvement of vision within 3 days of treatment and near normal vision in 9 days and reduction in SRF fluid .1 patient alone needed a second dose of injection for one eye after one-month following which SRF resolved completely. Conclusion:This study shows that isolated SubtenonTriamcinolonene injection can be considered as a primary treatment in VKH patients which avoids complications of systemic steroids but needs a large number of patients with longer follow-up.
