Abstract
Tuberculosis is an endemic enemy of our country’s health & eye is not spared from the wrath of this bacterium. We present a unique case of a 16-year-old girl who presented with blurred vision in her left eye with a Snellen’s acuity of 6/60. The anterior segment revealed granulomatous anterior uveitis with fundoscopy showing multiple, active foci of choroiditis. Her right eye was normal at presentation. Uveitic profile revealed a strongly positive mantoux test & she was started on oral steroids & ATT. On 5th week visit, owing to the healing choroiditis patches, the oral steroids were tapered. But at the 9th week follow-up, a new choroidal lesion cropped up parafoveally in her until-now-normal right eye; emphasizing the importance of keeping an eye out for flare-up of an existing choroidal lesion or emergence of a new lesion. With this case we stress upon the importance of keeping a watchful eye on cases of posterior uveitis and keeping in mind the inevitable Mycobacterium!
