Abstract
To report a case of ICSOL causing cupping in young.Optic atrophy refers to the death of retinal ganglion cell axons that comprise the optic nerve with the resulting picture of pale optic nerve on fundoscopy. optic atrophy is an end stage that arises from myriad causes of optic nerve damage anywhere along the path from retina to lateral geniculate.
case: An 18-year male patient, came with chief complain of diminution of vision in left eye in the past 6 month more in the last 1 month. Associated with headache and discharge from ears with tinnitus. A thorough slit lamp examination was done. Relative afferent pupillary was there in left eye. Fundoscopy had asymmetrical cup disc ratio with normal intraocular tension. Visual field had heteronymous hemianopia and MRI brain was done.
RESULT:Patient had space occupying lesion in brain which was compressing optic nerve at the level of optic chiasma. Young age and assymetric cup disc ratio ,we must rule out compressive optic nerve lesion.
