Abstract
AIM: Ophthalmic manifestation in Chronic myeloid leukemia is most often an incidental finding in routine ophthalmic examination. We discuss a case of a 15yr old female who presented with complaints of headache, and was diagnosed as a case of CML.Clinical details: The BCVA was RE 6/12, LE 6/6.NCT was within normal limits. Fundus examination revealed bilateral disc edema with blurred disc margins, tortuous and dilated veins, and hemorrhages in all four quadrants. The macula appeared normal. MRI showed features of raised ICT, diffuse leptomeningeal enhancement along cranial nerves-probable leukemic involvement.FISH and bone marrow examination confirmed the diagnosis of CML. The patient was adviced Tab. Imatinib 300mg . Follow-up after 6 months revealed almost normal fundus with mild RPE changes and BCVA of RE-6/9 LE-6/6.Conclusion: Early diagnosis aided with appropriate investigations and timely referral helped in saving the patient’s life and vision.
