Abstract

BACKGROUND:Lid injury is a common presenting feature of ocular trauma .Patients presented with Lower and upper lid laceration with or without canalicular injury.

AIM: To analyse the surgical outcome in terms of functionality and aesthetics.

MATERIAL AND METHODS:21 patients presented at our institute with complain of post traumatic lid and periocular injury.It was managed by debridement of devitalized tissue and primary repair of laceration.Lid margin was reconstructed by suturing through the grey line,lash line and mebomian line.Others areas of laceration were repaired by repositioning of tissue in its anatomical position.

RESULTS: Out of 21 patients,7 patients had upper lid laceration,5 patients had lower lid laceration,5 patients had lower lid injury,4 patients had both upper and lower lid laceration. Anatomical alignment was restored in all patients.

CONCLUSION: Traumatic laceration of eye lid requires a thoughtful and well planned approach in order to provide the best outcome.
