Abstract
Penetrating ocular injuries are common and have been well studied since ages. However trauma with intra-ocular inoculation of eye lashes/ cilia is quite rare on which only a few cases have been reported.
36 yr old male presented with h/o ocular trauma to right eye by metallic wire. On examination right eye had a a full thickness corneal laceration was noted. Anterior chamber was shallow and lens matter appeared to be disturbed. Wound exploration was done – full thickness corneal tear which was S – shaped, 4mm x 2mm from 7 to 11 ‘o’ clock was noted, breech in anterior capsule was noted with disturbed lens matter. 4 lashes were seen embedded in the disturbed lens matter. Lashes were removed and corneal tear was sutured with 10-0 nylon sutures . Through a 2.8mm clear corneal entry, lens matter was aspirated, thorough Anterior chamber wash was given with intravitreal antibiotic injection and posterior capsule was seen to be intact.patient was advised secondary IOL at a later date.
