Abstract
SYNOPSIS: A 54 year old female came to OPD with complaints of RE upper lid drooping and a swelling in superotemporal aspect of upperlid since 3 years which was gradually progressive. She complaints of another swelling in RE lower lid since 2 months.
The patient has history of endometrial carcinoma 1 year ago for which she underwent hysterectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
EXAMINATION: BCVA-RE 6/9; LE 6/6. On palpation, a diffuse, ill-defined, soft mass of around 9x4cm is found in superotemporal right orbit. Ptosis in RE and a solitary lesion of 3x4mm in lower lid, in medial 1/3rd, with a bluish hue is present. (RE) Palpebral fissure height -5mm, MRD1 – 1 mm, LPS action – 6mm.
The patient underwent FNAC of diffuse mass in RE upper lid which revealed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
CONCLUSION: Metachronous carcinomas can occur in patients with history of malignancy as in this case, where ocular pathology led to the diagnosis of lymphoproliferative disorder.
