Abstract
Aim-To analyze the role of Pattern Reversal VEP(visual evoked potential) in the diagnosis of ocular malingering at a tertiary eye care hospital.
Methods-80 people with age between 20- 60 years attended to Ophthalmology Department during September 2021 to September 2022 with suspected malingering in one or both eyes were referred to VEP study.
Inclusion criteria-unexplained vision loss, age more than or equal to 18 years.
Exclusion criteria-any neurological disorders.
Examination including BCVA, Slit lamp examination, Pattern reversal VEP, Fundoscopy, Perimetry were done.
Statistical analysis-Unpaired T test was done, P value less than or equal to 0.005 was considered to be statistically significant.
Results- In 32 patients both eyes exhibited decrease visual acuity with normal VEP(pure malingering).
Conclusion-VEP can be useful as a diagnostic tool for ocular malingering.
