Abstract
Purpose:To evaluate the outcome of TPK in pts of infective corneal ulcer.Methods:All pts who underwent TPK from July2017 to June2022 were reviewed from records.Demographic data,microbiology of ulcers,surgical indications of TPK,donor graft details,pre &post-op VA,graft clarity& complications were analyzed.Results: 42eyes of 42pts(23M/19F) were included.The meanage was47.3±11.8yrs.The mean follow-up was2.1±1.3 yrs.76% of infective corneal ulcer was perforated.31(73.8%)were positive of organism of which18(58.1%) showed fungal &13(41.9%) had bacterial infection. The MC fungus & bacteria isolated were Aspergillus& Streptococcus. Anatomical success rate was obtained in35pts(83.3%) and graft clarity was 33.7%.Overall 41.7% cases had developed glaucoma.Post-op VA was improved in 21.7% of cases.Conclusion:In infective corneal ulcer TPK can be an important procedure to salvage eye & preserve vision but the incidence of postop complications are more.Bacterial corneal ulcer has better outcome.
