Abstract
PURPOSE: To describe a case of bilateral subluxated lens in a ten year old child with homocystinuria where systemic evaluation is life saving. METHOD:A ten year old boy who presented to our OPD with defective vision both eyes. On examination ,the child showed alternating exotropia and inferiorly subluxated lens both eyes. The child was diagnosed to have homocystinuria on laboratory investigations showed high homocysteine level in blood. BCVA RE was 6/18 and LE was 6/12.Fundus examination of both eyes were within normal limits. Child was treated with pyridoxine and folic acid. RESULTS: Early diagnosis of homocystinuria turns out to be life saving for the child as homocystinuria may lead to intra vascular occlusion resulting in coronary artery disease and cerebrovascular accident. Thus we could save the life of a child. CONCLUSION: Systemic evaluation in a case of bilateral subluxated lens is life saving.
