Abstract
Aim:
To evaluate the efficacy of intravitreal combined injection of anti VEGF and triamcinolone in patients of diabetic macula edema.
Materials and Methods:
This study included patients diagnosed of diabetic macular edema. Only one eye per patient was included. Intravitreal injection of anti VEGF and triamcinolone was administered. 0.05 ml of anti VEGF and 0.1 ml of triamcinolone is injected and followed up for 3months.
Results:
All subjects had improvement in visual acuity through 3 months. There were no post injection complications other than transient ocular pain and raised IOP. Most patients had a prompt improvement in visual acuity which was maintained up till 3months.
Conclusion:
Combined intravitreal injection of anti VEGF and triamcinolone is an efficacious treatment option for diabetic macular edema. Combined injection ensures rapid reduction in central foveal thickness with a single dose as compared to anti VEGF alone where multiple doses are required.
