Abstract

Aim:To report 2rare cases of orbital myiasis in patients having extensive basal cell carcinoma.Methods: Case1 was58 years female of neglected ulcerativeBCC of left medial canthus.Case2 was70 years male having untreated ulcerativeBCC of left inferior periocular area,both presented with orbital cellulitis with many freely moving maggots&were removed manually with the help of forceps&putting4% xylocain and mixture of chloroform&turpentine oil(1:3)which block the spiracles of larvae&immobilizes it.Regular wound debridement done for5 days.Topical and systemic antibiotics&anti-inflammatory were given.Results:More than 100live maggots were removed from 2cases.Maggots were sent to entomologists for electron microscopic study.Maggots were identified as Dermatobia Homni(Human Botfly).Conclusion:Orbital myiasis can complicate the ocular malignancies.Manual removal after kiiling maggots by using many chemicals is basic treatment.Education of advanced malignancy&about good hygiene is important.
