Abstract

keratopigmentation is a method to camouflage white corneal scars in eyes with no visual potential. Indications

are treatment of iris abnormalities , limbal dermoids, leukocoria in blind eyes, masking of the visual axis of one eye ,for reduction of pain and photophobia in bullous keratopathy, to change eye color, for refractive reasons. we intend to report outcome in terms of colour distribution and stability by using intrastromal technique. Hypertrophied epithelium is scrapped off with a crescent blade at site of scar. Lamellar dissection is made in superficial stroma and few drops of black dye were instilled. Complications are pigment non-homogenicity, color fading, risk of recurrent corneal erosions in repeated manipulation, intraoperative corneal perforation and uveitis. In conclusion, corneal tattooing employing stromal puncture technique in extremely adhered scarred cornea is cosmetically promising but it requires proper preoperative assessment and is technically demanding.
