In India, the Ophthalmic practitioners of today are not facing an issue of competence but are facing various other problems which are unrelated to ophthalmology. From difficulties faced by revenue recovery from insurance, to difficulty in managing core complications like endophthalmitis and facing public ire related to patient outcomes , the ophthalmic practitioner in India has some peculiar problems that need to be addressed and confronted.
In the midst of a world where public opinion is governed by the social media which can be misleading and often damaging to the reputation of the ophthalmic practioner. This will have a huge impact on the day to day practice and hence mental stress of an ophthalmologist. The session will discuss ways and means to protect our colleagues from these myriad problems and will deal with the following issues and more .
1. How to present a brave single front and manage TPAs and Insurance providers ?
2. How to create a AIOS helpline to formulate and advise the first response for all problems originating from patient ire and prevent violence against ophthalmologists?
3. How to create a consolidated management approach from AIOS empanelled ophthalmologist to assist in complications like endophthalmitis , corneal and posterior segment complications?
4. How to use social media in a synchronised matter to improve public perception of ophthalmologists in India and the work done by the AIOS
The points that will come out of the discussion will be useful to the AIOS in formulating a plan for a future with security for its esteemed members
