Abstract
Aim- To study demographics, risk factors,microbiology, and clinical outcomes in pediatric infectious and non-infectious keratitis.Methods- Retrospective analysis was done from Jan 2018 to June 2020. Demographics, risk factors, microbiology, clinical and visual outcome were analyzed.Results-299 patients with mean age 10.61years were analyzed. Visual acuity range was 6/6 to PL+.F: M ratio 1:1. Patients with no risk factor 195, trauma 81,surgery 5, Exposure 4, Vit A deficiency 5, Systemic illness 3, Syndromes 3, VKC 1, CL 3. Bacterial keratitis 42, Fungal 24,Viral 170,Acanthamoeba 2,Marginal 17, Toxic 8, Pythium 7, Nutritional 2,rubella 2 and keratouveitis 10, adenoviral 7, Microsporidial 8. Infective 282, Non-infective 19. Healed with Medical treatment 289, AMG 11,Glue+BCL 5, keratoplasty 2.Conclusion- Etiological vary depending on the geographical location and socioeconomic changes. Prompt diagnosis, clinical awareness, and specific treatment options are needed for managing these cases.
