Abstract

A twelve year old boy presented with sudden loss of vision in the right eye a day after sustaining lightning strike while he was grazing cattles in field. General Examination revealed burns to his abdomen,right arm,upper part of left and right thigh. Visual acuity was 6/60 in right eye and left eye was 6/6. Slit lamp examination revealed a dense cortical cataract in right eye.There was no evidence of other ocular complaints and his left eye was normal.Cataract surgery and lens implantation were performed on right eye with good results. Isolated,unilateral,paediatric cataract due to lightning is discussed
