Abstract
Method: Prospective non-randomized comparative study. 40 eyes from 20 pts each Gr with Senile Cataract. Binocular Results: 3 mths post op UDVA & BCDVA comparable (p>.05). UCIVA and DCIVA 66 cm is significantly better in (Monovision group2) UCIVA mean diff.(-.26) p=.0001, 95%CI -.31, -.21,DCIVA mean diff.(-.20) p=.0001, 95%CI -.256, -.0144, UCNVA and DCNVA at 40 cm sig, UCNVA mean diff. (-.20), p=.0000, 95%CI -.24,-.15, DCNVA (m diff. -.22, p=.000, 95%CI -.31, .12). Binocular defocus curve is significantly better in Gr2 at -1.5D, -2D, 2.5D p=.00. Post op reading speed at 66cm GR2 X² =6.86, p=.008, 95%CI (10%, 61%). Dysphotopsia by QUVID questionnaire comparable (p>.05). Intermediate distance spectacle independence in bright light at 66cm (diff. prop=20%, p=.03) &dim light (diff. prop =30%, p= .02) significant. Photopic & Mesopic Contrast comparable (P>0.05). Conclusion: Intermediate and near activities significantly better in GR2, in bright and dim light.
