Abstract
A 38yrs male patient presented with impacted FB in left orbit following accidental trauma while working. O/E:External end of the FB impacted into left lower orbit with restricted ocular motility,mild proptosis with superonasal displacement with increase IOP with 5/60 vision.CT scan orbit showed left intra-orbital FB impinging into roof of left maxillary sinus.He was started on parenteral antibiotic,steroid and topical antibiotic & antifungal drops.Surgical removal of the FB under LA by sub-ciliary approach was done along with ENT surgeons.Post op:day1 was 6/9 with reduction of IOP &proptosis with full ocular movements restoration.Patient was reviewed after 2 weeks with vision of 6/6 and normal ocular findings with only mild conjunctival congestion noted.Conclusion: Intra-orbital FB can be a common occurrence in rural areas.Detailed history,complete examination with high suspicion index & proper imaging & earliest intervention is necessary to save the eye and it’s dreaded complications.
