Abstract
Purpose: To explore psychosocial aspects of mothers of strabismic children, attitudes towards children & its impact on their interpersonal relation.
Methods: This study was conducted, involved a series of 30 children with strabismus and 30 healthy controls. All mothers fulfilled Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Parental Attitude Research Instrument (PARI), and Family Assessment Device (FAD) scoring system.
Results: Mothers of Strabismic children had higher scores for depression, nervousness, and lower scores in democratic attitude, and poor affective responsiveness as compared with mothers of the control group.
Conclusions: This study revealed that mothers having strabismic children had an adverse effect on their lives and interpersonal relationships.
