Abstract
In our study, we aim to determine the correlation between BMI and anterior segment ocular parameters like CCT, AC depth and IOP. These parameters are important indicators for the diagnosis of glaucoma which is among the leading causes of preventable blindness worldwide as well among Indian population. Our study has been conducted among eastern Indian population where, both, obesity and vision loss due to primary open angle glaucoma as well as primary angle closure glaucoma are widely prevalent and no study has been done till date according to our knowledge in this region to determine the association between them. Hence, this study is important as it may contribute to establishing obesity as a risk factor for glaucoma and can be used as a screening criterion for its early detection and management which are of paramount importance in preventing vision loss due to glaucoma. It was found that IOP & ACD were significantly correlated with BMI whereas CCT showed weak positive correlation.
