Abstract
AIM:To asses the visual outcome of patients admitted with mass alcohol intoxication in April 2022.
METHOD-Total 20 male patients of age 20-40 Yr presented with blurring of vision (6/60-no PL)following a mass alcohol intoxication.Detailed evaluation including BCVA,Pupil reaction,s/l examination,fundoscopy,VEP,OCT,routine blood tests done.sodium bicarbonate,hemodialysis,ethanol,Iv pulse steroids were given in treatment and followed up for 3 months.RESULTS:14(70%)patients improved to 6/24-6/60.4(20%)pts initially improved to 6/36-6/60,but later deforested to3/60-CFCR.2(10%)pts didn’t improve at all(no PL).CONCLUSION:Mass alcohol intoxication often seen in population of developing countries and industrial workers.Arterial PH is the best predictor for final visual outcome.Early diagnosis and prompt treatment like dialysis,anti dote therapy,I’ve pulse steroid with regular follow up is essential.More over awareness plays a key role against consuming alcohol
