Abstract
Purpose: To study success rate of repeat DCR by small flap saving technique for failed DCR. Material and Method: 134 repeat DCR surgery by a single surgeon using small flap saving technique were reviewed retrospectively. Incision on previous surgery scar. Small lacrimal sac margin ( 1-1.5 mm )around common canaliculi opening was saved .Arruga’s bone trephine was used to make Osteum in the nasal bone and nasal mucosa.Upper part of the remaining lacrimal sac was sutured with subcutaneous tissue/periosteum of medial side to avoid sagging. Sac syringing with 1ml of 0.4mg/ml Mitomycin c (MMC) was done on 5th post operative days.All case are followed for one year.Results: Anatomical/ objective success -133 (99.2 %; 95% Confidence interval: 95.9-99.9%) Functional/subjective success-131 (97.7%; 95% Confidence interval: 93.6-99.5%).Conclusion: This technique for repeat DCR is safe and easy with high success in the second year.
