Abstract
Patients with high myopia undergone Bioptics (LASIK+ICL) to achieve spectacle independence expect the same when they undergo cataract surgery which can be a challenge due to errors in biometry & unavailability of MFIOL/ Trifocal IOL powers.
We present a case series of 4 eyes of 2 patients who underwent Bioptics 14-15 yrs back, presenting currently with cataract. ICL explantation along with routine phacoemulsification was planned in these cases & IOL power was calculated using LVC (Laser vision correction) mode in Barrett’s Universal II. Dominance was checked & target refraction of -0.50 to -1.0D in dominant eye & -1.50 to -2.0D in non dominant eye. Average IOL power implanted was in range of -3.5 to 6.5D. Axial length in these patients ranged between 32.62mm to 33.9mm. Postoperative refraction (sph equivalent) achieved was in range of 0 to -1.50 in dominant eye & -1.75 to -2.5D non dominant achieving 6/12 and N 8. Thus spectacle independence was achieved through planned monovision.
