Abstract
Purpose: To report the initial clinical outcomes of therapeutic PK (TPK) for perforated corneal ulcers using host corneal button.
Design of study: case report
Methods: Two patients who presented to our department with perforated infectious keratitis in one eye during Covid-19 pandemic. One eye of both the patients was operated with host cut tissue obtained from patients undergoing optical penetrating keratoplasty (PK) for pseudophakic bullous keratopathy(PBK). The tissues were secured using 10-0 nylon sutures. Patients were followed up for 6 months and optical PK was done in both the eyes after one year.
Results: The good anatomical integrity was achieved in both the eyes with complete resolution of infection. No recurrence of infection was noted. Final visual acuity after optical PK were 20/120 and 20/80 respectively.
