Abstract
Purpose: To describe retinal sequelae of COVID-19 infection. Methods: Retrospective analysis of a case series of 17 eyes of 13 patients. Patients had detailed ocular evaluation & imaging as applicable (B-scan, OCT, Fundus photography & Humphrey VFA). Results: Age ranged from 24 -72 years; 9 males & 4 females. Patients could be grouped as a). infections secondary to immunosuppression: fungal endophthalmitis, candida retinitis, tubercular choroiditis, tubercular choroidal abscess, choroidal abscess unknown etiology; b). post viral sequelae: bilateral pre-foveal hemorrhages, acute macular neuroretinopathy, post fever retinitis; c). Treatment related adverse effects: CSCR & voriconazole-induced symptoms. All patients improved except one with aspergillus endophthalmitis who presented 6 weeks after onset & one with tubercular abscess who was lost to follow up. Conclusion: Ophthalmologists should be vigilant for these entities as outcomes can be good with prompt and aggressive management.
