Abstract
Purpose: To describe retinal sequelae of COVID-19 vaccine & specifics in their management. Methods: Case series of 9 eyes of 8 patients presenting within 2 -14 days of COVID-19 vaccination. Patients underwent detailed ocular evaluation & imaging as applicable (B-scan OCT & Humphrey VFA). Physician referral when indicated & COVID antibody titre for 5/11 patients was done. Results: All cases presented within 2 weeks of COVID-19 vaccine. Entities could be grouped as a). Retinal vascular occlusions in 3 young healthy patients b). Posterior segment inflammation 2 cases: bilateral multifocal choroiditis & retinal vasculitis c) abrupt reactivation of stable NV-AMD with bleed & RPE detachment in 3 patients. All patients had good outcome except one with central retinal artery occlusion who had no light perception at presentation. Conclusion: Ophthalmologists should be vigilant for these entities post vaccine as outcomes can be good in most cases with prompt, specific & aggressive management.
