Abstract
Retrospective analysis of the data of 37 eyes of 27 patients was done who was diagnosed as posterior scleritis during 2015 to 2020. Mean age of presentation was 46.67 years. Idiopathic posterior scleritis was noted in 55.5% cases where as associated systemic diseases were noted in 44.5 % cases. Rheumatoid arthritis was most common cause among the systemic diseases (14.81% cases). O n FFA early pin point leakage was noted in 33% cases and pooling of dye and cystoid macular edema was noted in 44% cases. 33% of the cases responded to steroid alone where as 25.9% cases required immunosuppressive agents along with oral steroids. Conclusion: Posterior scleritis is more commonly noted in middle aged females, most common etiology was found to be idiopathic. B scan is still the most reliable investigation for diagnosis and prognosis of the disease. ‘T’ sign is not universally present in all the cases. Resolution depends upon presenting features , treatment age and associated systemic diseases.
