Abstract
Uveitis is a pandora box. The etiological diagnosis of uveitis is challenging owing to a wide range of differential diagnosis. There are many protocols available in the standard textbooks to tailor the investigations according to the clinical history and examination. But the real-world scenario is unexplored. In this study, we tried to explore the pattern of investigations advised on first contact in uveitis patients in northern India. The results were surprising in our study. Around 57.2% of patients have advised investigations that were not tailored. The cost expenditure of the not-tailored investigations was around three times higher than the tailored investigations. We, therefore, conclude that the tailored approach to investigation is not only cost-effective but also reduces the risk of overtreatment in uveitis patients.
