Abstract
Purpose:To characterise the corneal deposits of macular corneal dystrophy and correlate with high resolution AS-OCT
Method :29 eyes of19 patients were evaluated for clinical features on slit lamp biomicroscopy and As-OCT performed to correlate the clinical findings. The location and level of corneal layer involvement used as basis to characterise the deposits in macular corneal dystrophy(MCD).
Results:Mean age of patients with MCD was 33.6 years. In 17 eyes,The stromal deposits was present in both central and peripheral cornea while deposits were restricted to central 8mm in 10 eyes.2 eyes were so diffusily deposited that above distinction can not be made.Central deposits were in anterior stromal layers, while the peripheral deposits were in the deep stromal corneal layers and non-contiguous with the anterior stromal deposits.
Conclusion:MCD exhibits a clinically diverse presentation as revealed on clinical and OCT study.
