Abstract

Platelets parameters and coagulation profile in POAG patients

PURPOSE- To study platelet parameters and coagulation profile in POAG patients.

Materials and methods: A total of 80 (40 cases and 40 controls) were recruited as per inclusion-exclusion criteria. Various haematological parameters including platelet parameters (PCT, PDW, MPV and Platelets aggregation ) and coagulation profile (APTT,PT,TT,D-dimer,Fibrinogen)were measured.

Cases (POAG) classified according to HVF mean deviation ,MILD (MD ≤ 6 dB), MODERATE(MD =6-12dB)and severe (MD > 12 dB).

RESULTS- In POAG patients, PLT counts were significantly lower than those of the control group. In the POAG group, PDW and MPV values were significantly higher than those of the control group ,fibrinogen and D-dimer significantly higher than those of the control group.

CONCLUSIONS- Platelet activation and coagulation cascade activation may have a role in the pathomechanisms of POAG.
