Abstract
Purpose: Reporting a case of anterior pituitary hypoplasia mixed with minimal pituitary adenoma coexisting with alternate exotropia.
Method: A 14-year-old female came with outward deviation of both eyes since the age of 3. BCVA 6/9 NIF in both eyes.RAPD in the right eye.Fundus examination was within normal limits.MRI brain with contrast revealed moderate to severe anterior pituitary hypoplasia with pituitary adenoma within.In view of delayed puberty and short stature referred to an endocrinologist.Blood investigations revealed reduced gonadotropins and serum progesterone levels
Result: Diagnosed as anterior pituitary failure and gonadotropin deficiency and the patient referred to an endocrinologist for care of secondary gonadotropin deficiency.Planning for strabismus correction.
Conclusion: Overall systemic evaluation in a case of strabismus has helped us to make the diagnosis of anterior pituitary failure.This case exemplifies the need for systemic evaluation of a case of strabismus
