Abstract
To assess the clinical and biochemical characteristics of patients with vascular occlusions in post COVID-19 ROCM.Retrospective study at tertiary care centre from 29th May -31st July 2021. 22 Patients with vascular occlusion in post COVID 19 Stage 3c and 4 ROCM were included.17 patients with stage 3c had pre-existing vascular occlusion, 1 developed ophthalmic artery occlusion(OAO) after debridement. One patient with stage 4d had bilateral CRAO. 21 patients had no PL.4 patients had CRAO,one patient each had combined vascular occlusion and BRAO.16 patients had OAO. 1 patient with stage 4d ROCM developed CRAO due to Internal carotid artery thrombosis. The inflammatory biomarkers were elevated but not significanty different from stage 3c patients without occlusion. This is the largest set of patients with vascular occlusion post COVID 19 ROCM. The study shows that angioinvasive fungal infection from the orbit is responsible for vascular occlusion rather than the high inflammatory markers.
