Abstract
OBJECTIVE : To evaluate central corneal thickness (CCT), corneal sensitivity (CS) and Intraocular pressure (IOP) in second and third trimester of pregnancy and compare it to the same biomechanical corneal parameters 6 weeks postpartum. MATERIAL AND METHOD : A prospective longitudinal study of 120 eyes of 60 pregnant women in age group of 18-35 years were examined for changes in CCT, Corneal sensitivity and IOP in their second/third trimester of pregnancy followed up by postpartum 6 weeks. The effect of pregnancy on these variables was determined using simple linear regression. RESULTS : CCT values vary directly and significantly with trimester of pregnancy ( p< 0.000). The duration of pregnancy varied inversely and significantly with corneal sensitivity (p<0.05) and IOP (p<0.000).
