Abstract
Objective: Non mucormycetes causes of fungal rhinosinusitis with periocular swelling in COVID-19 , interventions and outcomes.Methods- Retrospective study of patients with non mucor fungal rhinosinusitis with periocular swelling .Presentation,blood reports and imaging were analyzed. Management included: intravenous liposomal amphotericin B and functional endoscopic sinus surgery with paranasal sinus debridement, limited orbital debridement with or without transcutaneous retrobulbar liposomal amphotericin B and antifungal medication.Results- Four cases of Aspergillus and one each of Fusarium, Curvularia, and Penicillium were seen. Orbital involvement was in four cases.Two had third-nerve palsy and one cavernous sinus thrombosis. No mortality, acute vision loss, or exenteration took place. Conclusion-Aspergillus ,Fusarium, Curvularia, and Penicillium were uncommon non mucor causes of fungal rhinosinusitis with periocular swelling in COVID-19 delta variant infection.
